this'll teach me! - Luke_Jackson_879

Honestly I am not sure what the other program does (I will see if I can take a look though). I took a look at where widget maker was orginally and decided to go with an IDE format and the widget manager (actually had another developer suggest going to a graphical format). I decided it needed to be able to open apple widgets, 3rd party widgets, and also developer widget examples. Even then it still seemed too complex, so I added in the widget wizard, just taking one of the developer examples. So that is where it is at now. Still a few minor things to add, but for the most part done.

I did add recently to the manager so you can disable or enable dashboard, which is handy if you are running short on ram.

Please let us know of anything that you would like to see added.

As the developer I took a look at Wcode today and the two both use an IDE format and toolbars, but so do alot of other programs. Since Wcode does not actually allow you to try it (asks to buy first), I did not get to try out the features. Widget Maker also has a widget manager and a Widget wizard built in. As well as an online tutorial. So while they are a like in ways, they are different in many features.

I think we (Wcode and Widget Maker) are on the same path of trying to make Widgets easier for users. I like to use an IDE to develop in and want the same thing to make widgets in.

how to "try" WCode - Marty.Skinner

Actually, you can drag the Buy/Paypal/Register window aside and then play a bit with WCode.

In doing so myself however I got very strange results. Sometimes doing an Open didn't seen to open up the correct widget file, and clicking on the widget elements in the left-hand area didn't always show the item's contents.

Maybe these issues are actual bugs within WCode or maybe because the application purposely doesn't work reliably until that Buy... window is successfully used.
