But: The author of the initial posting is right in one thing:
Wave Editor is too expensive. Really.
I don't know which kind of people will buy WE, but for me (as a non-prefessional who just wants a good piece of software for editing audio-files) it's definitely one or two levels too expencive. Don't forget: We dont speak about Photoshop or something else, which has been developed for years and is full of features and THE standard within its kategory.
If I get you right, you want to attack some BIAS programs. That's a great idea - but if you want to get in the market, you shouldn't get THIS price...
In my opinion Wave Editor could be a very very good alternative to Peak - but at the moment where the prices dont differ a lot I think most users will buy Peak (because they know it for years).
I would use WE an a non regular basis. I would pay a maximum of 150-200 Euros. Not more.
Don't get me wrong: I did a WE test-drive - it's really a nice app and has got a lot of features for a 1.x version - but the price will only allow professionals to buy it. And this is a problem: On the non-preofessional aerea theres no really (and payable) program on the Mac (yeah, I know this nice open source editor and some others - but have you compared them with Wave Editor or Peak?)...
Software patents? Come on... - vieh-lieb
