Uninstalling - mstoops_1

Since I can't leave well enough alone, I had to poke it with a stick one more time (hey, I LIKE bee stings!). Anyway, now that I've manually forced the http proxie off, now ScamBlocker properly unsets the local proxie if I turn ScamBlocker off. So, this is obviously an intermittent issue. The "fix" is there for anyone who might have screwed with things like I did, and can't get TA to fix itself.

This sure explains why Web Proxy (HTTP) always has a check mark with TA installed & ScamBlocker enabled even though I previously unchecked it & locked the network preferences panel. ScamBlocker for me works wonderfully as it has alerted me numerous time to fradulant web sites before I accessed them. Typically the way it has worked is I'll get what appears to be a legit e-mail from a company I have done business with that directs me to a web site. Clicking on the web site link in the e-mail envokes ScamBlocker which alerts you the fact that the said site is indeed fradulant & shouldn't be accessed. TA may not be the most elegant or documented utility around but their ScamBlocker & SpamBlocker work & to me at least are indespensible.

Thank you so much. I have been trying to get rid of Total Access for a year. I would have never found the proxy problem. I am cruizing with Safari again. I was on online help with earthlink for an hour today and was getting nowhere. so I finally signed off out of frustration. The guy was having me do stupid stuff like uninstalling and reinstalling Explorer. I was a happy earthlink user for many years but I have now switched to hi speed with another provider. I am disappointed that earthlink is not aware of the problem with the unistall procedure.

Anyway, Safari, Explorer and Itunes(radio) are all working now.

Uninstalling: Yeks, and thanks a lot - WannaBteacher

Yeah, I didn't know that was the exact problem that prevented me from using system update. I couldn't get that port (8090) to do anything for me. It (TA) blocked everything no matter what browser I used from firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. However, after I got a kernal panic, my login screen froze, I ended up doing an archive and install. The TA update wasn't included, now everything is working great again w/o the TA update and I made sure that the http proxy is not checked nor activited until I get the other updates installed.
