Netscape is dead. - ecolect

IE is dead, too, and even IE's OS X version isn't being updated. You have a couple of years to get comfortable with OS X. Given Apple's switch to Intel chips, OS 9 won't be supported after that.

Netscape is dead. - spamcatcher

trying to compare ie and netscape for os 9 is like trying to compare a '86 cadilac with 386,000 miles to a '92 honda with 265,000 miles. When they were in their prime, ie was the better browser, but looking at which one you'd rather drive now, netscape is the way to go if you just can't bring yourself to switch to osX yet.

"Why?" you might ask. It has to do with standards compliance.

As a web developer, ie mac is the bane of my existance. stuff that works just fine on every other browser (mac AND PC) will break on ie mac, both os 9 and osX. Netscape may be a little slower, and ie may be a little "stabler," (whatever that means on os9), but Netscape is capable of rendering pages that are crated using modern development techniques that ie just can't cope with.

Current web page development makes substantial use of CSS and DHTML, which ie mac does not fully support in the way that all other mac browsers do, or even ie for windows does.
