This is undoubtedly a very good app, but this pricing scheme, while legal, is unusual, so I have every sympathy with the complainant. It is easy to miss the terms and easier still not to realise their implications. Mr. Hamrick should provide both earlier versions of VueScan and a clearly worded warning before someone downloads an update which will have this effect. What Mr. Hamrick has done is lured him in at one price, and then put him in an arm lock which left him little alternative but to upgrade after a year. One expects this behaviour from Microsoft, but it is very surprising from a small developer, however well written his software, or diligent he is at keeping it upgraded. It would be much more honest to simply charge the $90 from the start, as plenty of people here think it well worth the price.
