destroyed ability to use Safari Tiger - bolly

I know this problem, and had it a few times. It is fiixable, but an unsure process. You don't need a new installation of Safari, and its not usually the plist, or bookmark etc.

First try to log in with another fresh or fairly untouched user account, and safari will likely work fine. That tells tyou it's a problem osmewhere in your library.

Things like old versions of menu enhancer and igetter plug ins left over from previoius systems you ran. Delete al suspicious plug ins, checking their creator dates. You may have long forgotten them Then re add them as needed, checking for updates. So, check these folders: SMBL plug ins can cause problems sometimes.. Look for Input managers in the Library too, especially old iGetter and menu enhancer bundle.

Try to delete the Cache-Files - Cityhunter

I had a problem when updating to Tiger.
Safari crashed in the beginning. No chance. Like in you case, a new install of Safari didn't help out.

After i delete ALL CACHE-FILES manually with the Finder, everythings works fine.

It's something, i call a bug from Safari, that when you have a corrupt Cache-File, for example from a system crash, then Safai won't work anymore.

Try to delete the Cache-Files from Safari and it will work again.

Seems to have destroyed my ability to use Safari Tiger - john_morgan1_dotmac

At least you had the opportunity to have Safari work correctly! I have not downloaded any enhancements and when I close a window in Safari 2.0 it always quits on me. Pretty sad considering it is Apples own!!!
