Connecting to AD via LDAP can be a hairy operation. Recommend first trying no search base but do try your AD login in the msdomain\adusername format with an Auth Type of Simple. Also, suggest using port 3268 (AD proprietary port) as it has been my experience that AD malfunctions on LDAP queries made on standard TCP 389
