I have discovered two things. First, if you prevent Amadeus from contacting the Amadeus website (e.g. take your computer offline before running the program) it will not crash. The second thing I discovered is that the website seems to be down.
My conclusion is that there is a bug in the version check code that shows up when the website fails.
Work around: go offline, start the program, and disable the "Check for updates" (under the Amadeus menu, just before "Properties").

This has nothing to do with the Apple update. It didn't work before I applied the update, it didn't work after applying the update. However, now that HairerSoft's site is back up it works fine (the site was down at least part of the weekend).A program that depends on a web site working is guaranteed to become unusable when it's really needed and therefore can't be depended on for real work.
And like I said before shutting down the network is completely unacceptable.

3.8.1 crashes after Security Update - ActionAmerica.org
Same here. Amadeus 3.8.1 crashes immediately after launch on systems that have the latest Apple Security Update. As each system got around to being updated, Amadeus 3.8.1 began crashing on that system. I have temporarily reverted to Amadeus 3.7.2 and it works fine, even after the Security Update. Bummer. 3.8.1 was so much better.Reply to This
