Not as fast on my mac..... - Yazsoft

You wrote: "...this application actually is slower than Stuffit Expander free version"

Stuffit Expander doesn't download any files. It merely unstuffs them so I'm not sure what you mean exactly.

If you meant your browser, then it really depends on the size of the file that you downloaded and the kind of internet connection you're on. If it's a really small file, then yes you might get the impression that your browser is a little faster but that's simply because Speed Download requires a little more overhead to open up the incremental connections it uses to actually download the file. That takes about 1 sec, but if the file you are downloading is really small to begin with, then in that second your browser may already have it, and hence what you say is true. However, try downloading bigger files or if your internet connection is not that reliable, then you'll immediately see SD is a real time saver.

To conclude, if you simply download very small files from time to time, then SD is probably not for you. However, if you want a download manager that always provides a fast and reliable download mechanism, and auto-resuming at all times, as well as tons of other features, then SD is the utility to have.

I hope this answers your concerns and as usual if you have further questions, you may always contact us at info@yazsoft.com

Not as fast on my mac..... - thehand--2008

400 mbs? Is this a typo? If that is 400 megabits per second that translates to 50 megabytes per second which means you could download a 4 gigobyte (4096 megabytes) in 82 seconds or one minute and 22 seconds. It took my machine (G5 2 ghz dual processor with stock 120 gig drive) 2 minutes and 25 seconds to transfer 4 gigs to my external firewire 7200 rms drive that sits on top of my machine. That means your internet connection is faster than my firewire. Can this be true?
