I have observed this as well, that Limewire's installation does change the user permissions of the /Applications folder -- and this is a VERY bad thing for software to do (leaving aside why OS X permits this to begin with). I've had to use Apple's Disk Utility to correct the problem, and while this is advisable after OS upgrades -- and less so today than in the past -- it shouldn't be necessary after the upgrade or install or each individual app.

Meanwhile, I find Limewire's UI to be poorly designed and not terribly functional even when allowing for its design.

Limewire is just going to go the way of the APGulianos of the mac realm.

Of course, trying to equate a software application to the idea of being horrifically annoying is difficult.
