I've put a separate comment up, but just to cover all the bases I'll comment here too. This is due to the bad behavior of other software running at the same time; one user found that iClock was to blame, and quitting iClock fixes the problem. Other apps may cause similar problems, if they try to take control of the machine during a game or try to intercept keystrokes; it is recommended that you quit other apps while playing Solarian, particularly iClock but, if you experience problems, other apps too.
