OK, I tried the hack with HexEdit, and it sort of worked. The iPod Download icon appeared when I connected my iPod, and I clicked on it, and got a window with some text "Reading media module iPod...", and then the window disappeared along with the iPod Download icon. Now, this may have happened because the iPod was already sync-ed to the iTunes library. And, I have not tried to use it with an empty library. Could anybody else comment on this, please? Thanks. --SteveSaturday, November 27 2004 @ 01:21 PM PST

In Essense, iTunes blocked the name of the plugin. so, you must either change the blocked name, or change the name of the plugin.
either of these changes should make the plugin work again. It's a dirty little trick that apple used. but as far as i'm concerned, this plugin does not perform any illegal tasks. The only reason i needed to use it is because i had a customer that needed to recover their music after a computer crash. all of their music came from store purchased CDs, but they didn't want to spend hours re-ripping the hundreds of CDs.
Kudos to the creator for this program. For some it can be a life saver.
