"Sogudi" should be removed from the Google search field! - Kim A
Why not just have a checkmark next to the item in the Safari menu, the way the "Block Pop-Up Windows" item does? That way, it shows that it is running, and it doesn't cause the kind of confusion putting it in the Google Search appears to be. I think calling it "arrogant" was more of a drastic tactic to wheedle the author into changing it rather than a qualified observation. Frankly, the author's response was more arrogant than the appearance of his software's title in an unexpected place.Sunday, October 31 2004 @ 09:08 AM PST

I don't care for "Sogudi" in the Google search field, either. It serves no purpose whatsoever as far as I can tell, other than as "branding" that's visible whenever Safari's running. Not even PithHelmet went that far when it was freeware, and PithHelmet is a bit more useful than Sogudi is, IMO, in that it acts on every single page that's loaded, instead of being an occasional nicety. What would be useful if if this utility allowed the user to select among different search engines, the way Firefox does. In that case, the Google box text should display the current selected engine (eg, Google when Google is toggled, AllTheWeb when ATW is toggled, etc).

"Sogudi" should be removed from the Google search field! - Xeater
I like it. It lets me know that Sogudi is installed and running on my Mac. Furthermore, this is freeware, and as far as nags go, this is about as gentle a nag as I've ever seen. Give the developer a break, he's doing what amounts to a community service so why not give him some leeway on the horn tootin'!Thursday, April 07 2005 @ 10:42 PM PDT
"Sogudi" in the Google search field! - KitzKikz
All this hoopla over the "Sogudi" showing up in the search field amazes me. Do you people honestly feel it's worth all this noise? You use my software and sing it's praises, but you don't want it to be seen? By whom? And don't tell me it ruins the look and feel of Safari, because it doesn't. You may think it is arrogant of me, but I can clearly see that your opinion is just as close-minded. I fully intend to make this feature a selectable option in an upcoming release, but the amount of controversy this has stirred is ridiculous. If this one insignificant issue is enough to make you switch to the competition (as if freeware had competition), then you certainly won't be happy with my future plans with Sogudi. I'd rather you leave now than have to listen to your considerable whining later. I didn't write this software for you or anyone else, I wrote it for me and made it available for others that may like it. I'll gladly listen to the suggestions of others, but in the end, it is still my software. That isn't arrogance, it is the truth behind a freeware model.Reply to This
