While Apple has made a one stop shop for iPod updates it has increased the file size for an updater that will only be of use to 1 group of people...right now that group of people are the owners of the 4G iPods. How many times does Apple have to rerelease the same old code to the 1G, 2G and 3G owners. I would rather see separate updates for each iPod generation. In this way software update would no what iPod software you need and download accordingly. As it is it will download it if you don't need it.
I can read it but should I have too? A program with 90 percent redundant code is like a Microsoft program. The reason they setup software update was to get only the updates you needed for your computer. Those who have dial-up will be spending a lot of time downloading something that is not for them because software update said it was.
