Taken from http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306

As a lot of people don't seem to be aware, patching your drive with a region free firmware is only one half of the trick to be completely region free.
For there are also some region settings WITHIN the software, that need to be bypassed.
There can actually be 3 region protections on a system:
- 1 in the DVD drive
- 1 in the OS
- 1 in the software player

When you flash your drive with a region free firmware, you only get rid off the 1st region restriction, but there are usually 2 more to defeat.

Most commercial video DVD need to detect their region set on the player in order to play. A RPC1 driver therefore does nnot mean without a region but able to change region as many times as you like. That is what this indispensable litte application is for. Why don't you inform yourself at least about elementary infos before posting on versiontracker?
