Funny you should complain about the lack of printed documentation while lauding the virtues of Reason, Pro-Tools, and the like, which provide minimal documentation in-package. Most of the documentation for those applications is in digital form, just as it is with Garageband.
Although I agree the documentation could have been a bit more thourough, for the price, you have to admit this is an amazing piece of software that does a great deal and is far more intuitive than your above mentioned applications which typically use a hardware-type interface familiar to those who've spent time in a professional studio but more than just a little daunting to everyone else.
