Is this the same browser as you get with Firebird 0.7? - RabYak
No, Firebird is a pared-down version of Mozilla; it uses the same engine, but Firebird is just the browser, whereas Mozilla is the whole suite.Friday, January 16 2004 @ 07:58 PM PST
Is this the same browser as you get with Firebird 0.7? - Danny Holt
Mozilla Firebird is not just the standalone Mozilla browser. The user interface in Mozilla Firebird differs from Mozilla in many ways. For example, Mozilla Firebird has customizable toolbars. It's customizable in general, with extensions, skins, and plug-ins.Friday, January 16 2004 @ 09:21 PM PST

OK, RabYak, clearly Firebird doesn't include all the other strap-hanger apps but what I'm asking is whether the two BROWSERS are the same. Danny Holt pretty much answered my question but I'd still like to know if the browser functionality is the same. What I'm trying to ascertain here is whether it's worth downloading Mozilla (with all the extra apps I don't need) when I'm already using Firebird 0.7. Do I gain any BROWSER functionality and/or compatibility I don't already have with Firebird?Saturday, January 17 2004 @ 07:01 AM PST

Firebird is based off the Mozilla engine. The idea behind it is to have the Mozilla browser without all the extra stuff (ChatZilla, etc.) to increase speed. Presently, I believe Firebird is a little behind from Mozilla in actual content updates, but last I checked they were thinking about breaking Mozilla down into Firebird, Thunderbird, and other stand-alone products.Reply to This
