HELLLLOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! .sit ??? *sigh* - sooloo

No there isn't. Use .dmg or .zip for OSX. .sit and .sitx both suck blue ape balls

HELLLLOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! .sit ??? *sigh* - 123

There are a few reasons one might want to stuff to .sit.

1. You don't need Stuffit 7/8/whatever to unstuff, which means you can unstuff it on a clean 10.1.5 system.
2. People might want to unstuff on OS9/8/7, to see what's there/for development/whatever.
3. .sitx takes too long to compress (you could try 'faster compression', but that defeats the point somewhat).
4. You have stuffit deluxe 6.5, and don't want to pay to upgrade (I'm not sure about the licencing terms for files created with the free version).

All said, apps for OSX should be distributed as .zips or .dmgs, since they decompress much faster anyway, and don't require any software. I hate it when someone distributes an app in a .sit or .sitx, since then it takes 30 minutes to decompress (and is often not much smaller anyway!)

gzip forever! (bzip2 is also horribly slow)

A 3GB sitx file will take over 50 minutes on an iMac to decompress. Please, for the love of God, kill off sitx.
