I got the same message when I tried the command. I discovered that I hadn't included the forward slash (/) after the "repairPermissions" part. You must also include a space after the "repairPermissions" part, then type the forward slash. The forward slash tells where you want the permissions to be repaired - on your hard drive - the forward slash stands for your hard drive. So copy and paste the •entire• next line --->
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /
