I've used Monolingual for ages and up until recently it has worked very well. However, with Snow Leopard it often hung and then crashed. I tried uninstalling all the non-Intel architectures on my Mac Pro using this and managed to cripple Snow Leopard, forcing a re-install.
Do not uninstall architectures with this utility as it does not work properly.
I got to the stage where I decided to simply get rid of Monolingual. Disk space is now so cheap that trying to slim your system is fraught with danger and for the most part, pointless.

Problems with Snow Leopard - wheeles
Your experience may differ from mine. If people want to try recovering some disk space at the risk of screwing up their entire system, then feel free. By "local issue", I presume you are blaming me for Monolingual trashing a fresh installation of Snow Leopard just because it didn't trash your system. From your "I'm alright, Jack" attitude, I presume you do not believe that others should be made aware of the possibility of their systems being trashed as well.I've seen quite a few reports of Monolingual not working well on Snow Leopard, and given the low price of terabyte (and larger) hard drives, is there really much point in trying to recover a few hundred megabytes (and at best around a gigabyte), when you can find yourself in a position of having to reinstall everything or restore from a backup?
If people are worried about space, then shell out some cash on a larger drive. If speed is an issue, then get an SSD.

Seems to work OK with SL, must be a local issue there.Reply to This
