this new version installs Silverlight by default. You can do a custom install to prevent Silverlight from being installed.
Silverlight is evil, because MS has not and most likely will not release authoring tools for Macintosh. Meaning that while you can play the stuff on your Mac, there is no way to create content for it, you'd need to get Windows to do that.

Silverlight & NetFlix ? - rogerpelizzari
Yes, but couldn't the plug-in possibly help PPC owners to finally use Netflix Instant Streaming? So far, only Intel machines have had that ability.

Yes - Creating Silverlight with Flip4Mac - cseeman
You'll notice that you can create Silverlight with Flip4Mac.Once your file is in Quicktime 7.x
File>Export>
In the Save Exported File As box
Export to Windows Media
Click on Options
You'll see four tabs
Video, Audio, Content, Silverlight
The Silverlight tab allows you create a WMV wrapped in Silverlight
just as one might create an FLV in a Flash Player.
The WMV exporter is only in demo mode on the free player but you can upgrade to Flip4Mac Studio for both WMV9 and WMV9 Silverlight export.
