It crashes when I try to open the application... every time. OS 10.6.1. Good thing it's not vital.

Got it to work. Delete ALL traces of the application before installing (i.e. application support, preferences files and the application(s) themselves). Empty the trash and install again. Worked for me. Crazy.Saturday, October 10 2009 @ 09:58 PM PDT

Happened to me as well. Running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 on an original Mac Pro. Tried deleting app support files and reinstalled, but it still crashes.Sunday, October 18 2009 @ 11:48 PM PDT

I think the reason it crashes is that this new version tries to access Real.com website at launch.Try again (website seams to work now) and disable both Browser Settings under Internet Prefs of the Player.
