Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Right, here's my few pence worth (cents for the US chaps):

Ive been using Saft for a number of years now, and it was always just right for me - with regards to features, and what it did, how it worked. It really did and does fit seamlessly into Safari and i could not live without it. So, let me get this straight, from a functionality point of view this is a FANTASTIC application...really nice, no issues, no problems, no crashes, no bad words to say about it.

However, communication with the developer was never easiest, i never have or had any idea what will come next, when, how etc. and this is a major drawback for me - i like to know if the developer is working on an update for 64bit, or if he is going to make it work with such & such a version of safari or if some feature will appear. Now over a few years ive waitied to see how the commnication situation would pan out, and unfortunately it did not improve.

Another thing that got me was paying constantly to upgrade whenever a new version came out, now i dont mind paying, its understandable, but i would like to pay and see new features, improvements, customer service, customer contact...rather than silence and futher messages talking about "you now require vXX.X please pay XXdollars" - that got on my tits after a while.

Now we are in a position where there are maybe Saft alternatives to choose from and try, some nicer, some less, some similar, some not so much - some free :-) but functionality is mostly relatively similar. I have now upgraded to Snow Leopard, and am running Safari in 32 bit mode since thats all saft will run in, i have no idea if the developer is working on it...since there is no contact or news :-) I think i will take this opportunity to shift to Glims.....why? is it better? well, functionally id say its similar, maybe more flakey in some things...BUT..i KNOW the developer is working on it, i can contact him, discuss, suggest, interact..i am informed (all this despite the fact it is not a paid app - ie no paid support). i know the app has some future because of this information. Also, its free...BUT im not saying i wouldnt pay for it, im just saying, when i pay for something which has a certain functionality, then i dont expect to pay for exactly that functionality again just because someone had to spend three seconds changing some IDs in plists. know what i mean?

Love Saft, loathe the approach. Its stable, its great, but its all just got too much.

Saft - King with a tarnished Crown? - eVolution

Well said, I totally agree!

And thanks for the lead on Glims!
If Glims works, I'll be more than glad to drop Saft, not because Glims is free and Saft not (I'll probably send money to the developer of Glims option is provided), but because of the developper.
