Existing users, 
Mactubes opened fine on my mini with snowlep but if there was a way to enter data into the downloads menu as the very scanty documentation instructed, I couldn't figure it out. Copying and pasting URLs didn't work. The downloads menu was like an impregnable jpeg. Dead.
Tried youtubedownloader instead and love it.

If you're using FIREFOX go to the FIREFOX ADD-ONS page and search for VIDEO DOWNLOADHELPER.
This puts a colorful animated button on your browser to the left of the URL pane. Whenever you load a video page the button activates. You simply click on it and a download menu appears. You need to click on it while the button is active. If you miss it, simply refresh the page and it will appear activated again when the video reloads.

If you search for 'youtubedownloader' under mac osx on version tracker, it doesn't give any search results. Search on google and it comes up with a Windows program. How is this a solution to a mac problem? If you do have a better application for mac then please paste in the web URL.Reply to This
