I've had a couple of problems with this updater that I haven't solved.
First, if you insert an invalid CD, such as a backup copy that you've made or the 4.1.1 CD that you've made, the updater program will reject that CD and even valid CDs thereafter, unless you quit and restart the program first. In other words, if the updater program rejects your CD, quit and restart the program before trying again.
Second, the updater program has failed to create a disk image or burn an updated CD in several attempts. I wish I knew why.
I echo some of the comments here. DiskWarrior has been a great application and has rescued me several times. However, Alsoft should develop an approach that's not dependent on Apple's hardware and OS upgrades or explain why. The DiskWarrior updating process should be improved, too.

FWIW:If your original DW disk was a DVD, a CD won't work. You must, when burning, (as stated in the directions) use a DVD.
I don't mean to be abrupt (really). Just hoping I can help with your frustration.

Same(?) problem here - Ronald P. Regensburg
I tried three times, the third time after a safe boot. Failed all three times in exactly the same way.My original disk is a CD. At first, everything seems to proceed fine. Immediately after entering the personalization information, the updater tells me to insert a blank CD and at same time tells me that an error occurred creating the image and burning the disk. It seems that the created image cannot be unmounted. Dismissing the error message stops the process. I tried inserting a blank CD despite the error message, but nothing happens while the error message is being displayed.

Tried three times; same problems as stated above. Did anyone get this upgraded? Is there another way besides first burning a CD/DVD?Saturday, August 29 2009 @ 09:12 AM PDT

It is pretty confusing: I went to the Alsoft update form (http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/diskwarriorupdate.html), entered my serial number and was able to download the updater. I assume if my serial # was not eligible I would have been told then. I launched the Updater and when prompted inserted my original Disk Warrior DVD (marked "Rev. 40") only to receive a message saying that this disk was not eligible for the upgrade. Have sent a message to Alsoft support, but no response yet.I do know that mid-2009 MacBook Pros (what I have) have a special problem and need a new startup disk. I've asked to be put on the mailing list for information about this, but have received no word yet.
