So I wonder why the "NEW" 13" MacBook Pro is lacking 64-bit Kernel support...

Apple might change this - libertyforall1776
Makes little sense, as the new 17" DOES support it...Thursday, August 27 2009 @ 01:49 PM PDT
But Apple considers - MarkusWinter
the 13in a consumer machine, the 15in & 17in professional machines.At least that's my guess.
No, there isn't much logic to it - or more precisely it's the same kind of logic which disabled screen spanning on the iBook ...
But if you've read the webpage then you know that there is no real need to run the kernel in 64bit mode, it might even be worse depending on what third party apps you have installed

Buzzt. Wrong. I'm running in 64 bit mode on the 13" MBP right now. Although this application exits with some sort of code if you try to set it to 64 bit mode, holding down the 6 and 4 keys on startup (not intuitive, I know) works fine. I've checked in the systems profiler and yes I'm on the 64 bit kernel.Saturday, August 29 2009 @ 10:48 AM PDT

My program asks the system profiler for the information, so if you are running in 64bit kernel mode then that should be displayed. That does not mean that it is officially supported by Apple yet - as indicated by the red cross.
So from your description so far it sounds as if the program is working as it should. As soon as Apple adds your machine to the supported list I'll add it as well ;-)
P.S. Would be nice if you could send me a screenshot and the relevant system profiler info

P.S. About "exiting with some code": are you sure you use the latest version? There was a problem with permission on some machines up till version 1.2 which had been fixed in later versions.Sunday, August 30 2009 @ 11:50 AM PDT

in a future updateIt's early days, and I'm willing to bet it is to give developers time to upgrade their kernel extensions
