Existing users, 
Vlc 1.0.1 is not bad but still dropping frames on HD video. They appear to lack OSX developers and the Mac version of VLC is suffering.
At the moment Movist is a much better alternative and plays most HD video with AC3 audio very well. Struggles with DTS audio.
