This application now phones home each time you start it. And I could not find an option to turn automatic updates off.

I really dislike applications that do this. Fortunately I have little snitch installed.

This app now phones home - Westside guy

Yes, it's hard for an app to auto-update without phoning home...

Personally, I appreciate the "head's up". Now, I'm not sure if checking in for an auto update means I'm going to get the option as to whether or not to install the update, but if it just updates without me telling it to, I'd be upset.

When Firefox started updating without my say-so, I THEN had to look for the option to shut that off. IMO, those options should be OFF by default, and I should be given the choice whether to turn it on.

When I run WinXP on my Boot Camp, it auto-updates, whether I want it to, or not. That really makes me cranky. So, I wouldn't want to install a version of a mac program that does that.
