With OS 10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.3, Mike Solomon's Aug. 2009 release of PithHelmet 2.8.5 works like the proverbial charm.
Without PithHelmet, I would opted to retreat from Safari to Firefox, which has its own excellent add-on for preventing the visually disturbing flashers and other distractions from slowing down loading time and causing eye-aches.
