It seems that this is a common problem on any platform, at least Mac and Windows. Audacity 1.3.8 will not launch at all. Version 1.3.7 works fine. MBP, 2.4 GHz, 4GB, MacOSX 10.5.7

It simply never starts up. 1.3.7 works fine on Tiger.
