Didn't do what I expected!

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I bought this software to make backups of my DVD movies, as my 2-year-old-daughter has destroyed too many to replace. It won't decrypt the movies! It just gives me a "Sorry, we can't do this" notice when I insert a DVD movie. Ugh! I wasted $60 on the download and softeware disk and didn't get what I needed!

Does anyone have any decryption software suggestions to make this work? I'm on a Mac!

You need to use this in conjunction with a programme like Mac the Ripper http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14414 (which is free fortunately). This will create a copy of your disk onto your hard drive with all the copyright protection removed. You will now be able to burn a new disk (or iPhone movie etc.) from the disk image on your hard drive using Popcorn.

Hope this helps

Yeah use mactheripper to extract it onto your hard drive and then drag the vts folder into popcorn, you can then compress directly it onto a normal dvd or remove the extras, menus extra languages for less compression. Try to get version 3,0 if you can (harder to find than 2,66).

MacDVD Ripper Pro is cheap and works with protected DVDs.

MacThe Ripper is free, but it is for the old version. If you want the latest version (which rips virtually all discs unlike the free version) you'll need to donate. There is a new version coming very soon.

Go to the forum for more details.

It's probably the best ripper. RipIt was extremely good too, but it just changed hands and hasn't had any updates lately.

I hope this helps.

Nothing legit and legal. Plenty that is not. 3.03 works great on Snow Leopard and I use it often to convert .avi file to m4vs for my Apple Tv. I used to use Elgato Turbo .264 but there are horrible video audio sync problems they won't fix. I'd sell mine but why sell someone a POS that doesn't work ?
