I've been using Fetch for like 10 years already. I actually don't really have any issues with Fetch except that the occasional recipient's ftp doesn't like it, but in that event, I just bust out Cyberduck. No probs, but yeah, Fetch is my preferred program. Anyhow, I saw this new version of Fetch 5.51 on versiontracker so I took a look, just out of interest. I'm not really looking to replace the version, I have as it does what I want anyway, but when I saw that it now cost's $30, you guys lost me. No thanks. My current version is doing the job and I really don't want to take the risk of losing functionality on a newer version anyway. How many times has that happened that a developer removes functionality on a new version and you wish, you kept the old. By the way, I'm still on version 4.03 I just checked and there sure seems like there's been quite a few updates since 4.03, so tell me, what am I missing? Is there a truly compelling reason for me to bust out $30?...

Sean,

Thanks for being a long-time Fetch user! To clarify, for licensed users of older versions of Fetch such as yourself, the upgrade to Fetch 5.5.1 is only $10, not $29. ($29 is the price for completely new licenses.)

And yes, we've made lots of improvements to Fetch since version 4.0.3. Some of the improvements are droplet shortcuts (drag files to an icon in your Dock or on your Desktop to upload to a server); edit any sort of remote file using any application; Quick Look support (for Mac OS X 10.5 users); automatic resume of uploads that stop or stall in the middle; support for the secure file transfer protocols SFTP and FTP with TLS/SSL; a toolbar with most commonly used commands; Universal binary for Intel Macs; a Dashboard widget; Automator support; and a lot more.

I don't think you'll find we removed any old functionality, but you can try out Fetch 5.5.1 for 15 days for free and see for yourself if you think it's worth upgrading. And if you have any questions, problems, or think a feature is missing that used to be there, just contact us and we'll reply and help out.
