It's great and all but where's the blue progress indicator bar?

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

Yes it's fast and thank goodness the tabs are off the title bar (pointless chrome envy), but what were they thinking with the new "loading" indicator? A lined spinning ball (a UI second cousin to the beach ball) and the text "Loading..." has replaced the useful feedback of the blue progress bar that used to occupy the address field. Short of opening the activity window, there's no way to tell if the page is actually loading or even how far along the page download has progressed. This decision by Apple to remove UI functionality and visual feedback is most confusing in light of their usually insightful consideration to GUI's in general.

I also find this irritating. I can't imagine what they were thinking.
