Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

10.5.4 is very stable and fast on my system... I hate the fact I have to make an unwanted and unneeded upgrade to my entire system to 10.5.7 just to have java not act like satan on my mac. Lame...

Have you even *tried* 10.5.7? I've never had an unstable system update on the Mac since System 7.5 days. They are always an improvement. 10.5.7 is faster on my 8 year old G4 than 10.5.4 was. Don't be a luddite... this ain't Windoze!

Actually, the original OS X was not an improvement. It was better than the beta, but it was far from being good.
Neither was 10.5 until 10.5.3 or 10.5.4. The first releases were extremely buggy.

Yeah, I used 10.0. It wasn't the beta, they had that.. I skipped that one. But it was missing many features and things like printer drivers, so I used to dual boot. But 10.0 was far more stable than OS 9. Anyone who used the classic Mac OS remembers how often it would lock up if you looked at it the wrong way. I can't bring down OS X if I try.

I had no other issues with any other update. My point is that going from 10.5.4 to 10.5.7 isn't going to break anything. 10.5.8 will be out soon also.. they are all bug fixes.

I'm running 10.5.7 on an eight year old G4.
