Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I downloaded this app because I was looking for some way to find out who was connected to a workstation AFP share which the description of this app says it will do. However, it does not. In fact, in the ReadMe file, the developer admits that it does not:

"Who Is Connected? doesn't do everything that it says on the tin (yet). Who Is Connected? shows you the status of AFP & SSH and tells you that someone is connected. In addition it notifies you of new SSH connections and gives the IP addres and login name of the user. However, it doesn't list individual connections at a given point in time."

While I understand the need to advertise future development, advertising features of the app that are not currently present is misleading and justifies the lousy rating I'm leaving. Of the features that are present, those work fine, but saying that an app is going to do something that it doesn't seems to me to be the definition of an app that doesn't work. I would recommend adjusting the description or implementing the advertised functionality.

Re: all advertised features are not present - cjcj01

Hi Alex : )
Thanks for your feedback on my new app, Who Is Connected?

Firstly, I'm very sorry that you feel mislead.
I'd just like to clarify however that I think it's the name of the app which you feel is misleading at the current stage of it's development though rather than the description?

I think, unless I am mistaken, that Who Is Connected? does in fact do everything it says it will do in the description I have given. As you say, I have tried to make it very clear above, on the website and in the readme which features are currently present and which are not, as you have indicated above.

So I'm not sure I can agree with you that I am 'advertising features of the application which are not currently present'. I think it is more about interpretation of the function of the application based on the name I have given it?

Ideally therefore, a review would be better based on how well an application performs according to it's current feature set. If it doesn't fulfil your requirements, that's fair enough and worth mentioning. But the review is a little unfair...

e.g. you have awarded us a 3 out of 5 stars for support, yet have never contacted us : (
That's a shame as I'm sure we could have found time to respond to you.

Finally as someone who is not a programmer or developer by trade, but who at their own expense and time has created something which works well and has provided this as a free service to others, perhaps a word of encouragement wouldn't go a miss. e.g. If you'd have said, it's a nice little app, it's looks pretty good, it works well, but I just wish it did x, y and z... Then someone in my position might just be a bit more enthusiastic about spending some more time on the features you want to see implemented (for free).
