The negative comments surprise me. It is true that Retrospect was released prematurely, as we can see by the subsequent patches. However, the current version is a good deal more reliable than Retrospect 6 regarding such important matters as executing scheduled backups. The new interface makes it much easier than before to survey past activities.

Keeping the former version of Retrospect around to read old backups is no problem. There is of course no need to buy new media: when the time comes to recycle backup media, simply use the new format.
