Will not stream outside of U.S.A. - ekfphoto

You already knew that Hulu would not stream outside the US, so why get angry and give this app a 1 star review for that fact?

Don't make false assumptions . . . - hkim

I did not know hulu would not stream outside of the U.S. and, in this day and age, there is no excuse for promoting such DRM in both service or software.

Until hulu becomes world-friendly and abandons needless DRM, it is of limited use to anyone but some kid with the money for the latest machine that lives in broadband city, USA.

boo!

You're suffering from the problem that we in the U.S. encounter when trying to stream video from other countries, like the BBC.

Licensing and advertising rules often limit the geographic locations where content may be distributed. It is similar to the Region codes on DVD discs. Hulu is probably licensed ONLY for U.S. distribution so must then limit their viewers to the U.S. or they'd be violating the license and could lose it. It'd be the same with the BBC.

Try connecting to Pandora.com from outside the U.S., watching BBC One simulcast from inside the U.S., etc. It is all about the relevant licenses of the content providers.

American-only software - hkim

Let's see, region codes on DVDs? That is another example of stupid DRM. I use DVDs from all over the world so should I buy three or four different players to play what gets sent to me or should I get to see what I buy!? Again, in this day and age, this sort of business model is outdated and building software upon yields only CRAP-WARE.

American-only software - natenate

This is why there are Region 0 DVDs which can be played anywhere on Earth, or even in orbit around it. The point here is that these limitations you're running into with Hulu (etc.) exist because of outmoded Intellectual Property laws, which the TV networks and Hollywood embrace and defend in order to maximize profits. You expect a little startup like Hulu to reverse decades of copyright practice? Blame the copyright holders, as they are the source of the problem.
