...when developers drop an app on you without a word of instruction. I have so much time to spend experimenting with this and that, trying to figure out what does what and why I would want to do it.

I should qualify that we are given instructions in how to install/uninstall, but, as I said, not a word on how to use it.

OK, so I managed to save a file as the default "My Slideshow.mov," but attempting to open it, Quicktime tells me it is not a movie.

What's next?

Try going to User's Guide under the Help menu or accessing the link shown at the very bottom of the README file.
