Just a thought: "Keyhole" is also the name of one of the USA's strategic satellite surveillance systems. Maybe this background "updater" is a compromise struck to permit selective redaction of views of the Earth, the same way that GPS can be selectively redacted when needs be?

Automatic Updates - gr8tfly

Removing the the "keystone" resources worked for me, too. Very simple. I now have control over what's running on my Mac. Unfortunately, I'll have to do it with each new version.

As for v5 over v4, it is noticeable more responsive, at least on this machine (UB MBP 17").

Automatic Updates - Gennx30

or the way NASA redacts MARS photos-that is until the ESA Mars Probe came along

Suddenly NASAs "red" sky photos became blue, bodies of water were "discovered" the surface color was more varied etc etc
and these are just some of the non woo woo facts
ESA photos even showed pretty conclusively that the Mars "face" is just a Plateau-not that there are not other weird things to view

ESA kind of keeps NASA honest-competition

And if you believe in it-there are a LOT of VERY odd photos of objects you can view if you have the patience, on the ESA Mars site
Many youve never seen and will kick you in the a** its a tough task to go through the thousands of photos but search-I was going to say-GOOGLE
