evidently this app rips to some proprietary file format that can't then be burned to disc using Toast. that's of little use to me.

well bummer. - Splunge

If you uncheck "Use '.dvdmedia' extension" in the preferences, the program creates the usual AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders that work fine for burning.

Another method ... - robbnashville

I haven't really used this particular app; but RipIt also creates a package file with the "dvdmedia" extension. If you like the tidiness of this approach, as I do, you can also just right click on the file and select "show package contents". This opens a finder window with the VideoTS folder visible. You can then drag that onto a Toast window; and you should be fine. As I said, I have not used this application. It's certainly less expensive than even RipIt; but I would recommend RipIt because of the tons of development that has been put into it; and Toast does recognize the dvdmedia extension that RipIt produces in V9. I don't know which version you may be using. It seems like if it recognizes RipIt packages, it should recognize these also.

In order to access the Video_TS which is what you'll need to burn your DVD, control click on the icon that Mac DVD Ripper creates (it's identical to the Mac's DVD player icon). Scroll down to (and select) “show package contents”. That'll open a window containing the Video_TS folder. Drag it out onto your desktop (or wherever you choose) and you're good to go.

check the preferences and disable "use .dvdmedia format", or just right-click the rip and choose 'show package contents'
