Feedback Type:  Usage Tip

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: YES

I have been using insomnia for a while under Tiger and found it useful. After upgrading to Leopard, however, I noticed that when I close the lid on my macbook (with insomnia enabled) the lcd remains on. I would like to find a solution to this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

LCD remains lit after upgrading to Leopard... - I am not God

I see the same problem.

Here's what seems to work for me on my August 2007 Macbook...

System Preferences->Energy Saver
Put displays to sleep...Never

Enable Insomnia

Manually sleep display
(I use shift-ctrl-eject)

close macbook lid

LCD remains lit after upgrading to Leopard - workaround! - porg

I also used Insomnia very satisfied under Tiger, and I am happy that there is now a (at least somehow) working Leopard version.

When I enable Insomnia (via menu or hotkey) and then close the lid, my Mac Book Pro's monitor also remains on.

Simple workaround:
1) First put your portable Mac's monitor to sleep.
a) Either use Insomnia's built-in feature, which can be triggered via the menu item "Sleep Display", sadly no hotkey assignable currently ( my enhancement request! )
b) Or use the freeware LightMe, to which you can assign a hotkey.
2) Then close the lid!
