Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

If you read the DivX infomation on the site, Youll notice they DID NOT include any H264 or MKV encoder updates with the Mac version of DivX 7.

Strange WE Mac users have done that for years but in MPEGs MP4 container. Not a big Deal.

DivX 7.0 Converter is version 1.3 is still PPC CPU useable.
DivX 7.0 Encoder component 6.8 is still PPC CPU useable. (Some nice new options)
DivX 7.0 Decoder component is still PPC CPU useable.
DivX 7.0 Web plugin is 1.4.1.4 is still PPC CPU useable.

Only the player requires Intell chip CPU but then you can use Quicktime 7 (as they give you a Quicktime component as ^above ^ and Perian plugin to play MKV any way if you must.

If you Need to make DivX for a stand alone player then this will still work for PPC users You just can ether wait till (IF) they fix the PPC bugs or Extract the components from the installer and add them manualy to your PPC system.

Only the DivX 7 player app needs Intell CPU. - justwhatever

While the components may be Universal, the installer bails on PPC systems. It seems bizarre that they only made the player app Intel-only, as that should be the easiest to make Universal. As a developer, I know that making the codec's is the hard part, because they are highly-performance critical.

The Installer does nothing but copy the components to your HDD.
All the components are Self contained bundles. That are just moved and over right the old versions. You can do that your self manualy.
You do the manual Extract with the "show contents" right click option on the installer and un zip the zip files, then you can add the NEW file icon logos and player logos to update the PPC version you can even install the newer preference plane app and all the other components. It even has them in the same folders as they need to be in your library.

O when you use the DivX decoder we now get the DivX logo at the beginning of each clip.
