I just started using a Mac, so forgive the n00bidity.
Does this codec affect the encoding performance of Handbrake? Or is this just for QuickTime encoding (I assumed you needed QuickTime Pro for that).
Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

It's only for QuickTime.If you don't have or want QuickTime Pro, you can access this codec with MPEGstreamclip, which uses the QuickTime architecture and is free.

No, Handbrake uses its own internal set of codecs. This one is only for applications relying on the Quicktime architecture for encoding.Reply to This
