Before you install this, realize that "FoxMarks" has become "Xmarks." Go to the Mozilla Add-ons page for it and read what is happening. Your bookmarks are going to become "aggregated" - that is sales-talk for "Data Mining." What once was a tremendous boon to multiple-computer users, has just become a security nightmare. READ WHAT IS HAPPENING BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS. You WILL be getting advertising on your web searches in the form of "suggestions." The FoxMarks/Xmarks company is a business, backed by Venture Capitol, that intends to make money with the information received by storing YOUR bookmarks. If you want to help them do that, fine. Just be aware of what is occurring.

Rather than giving you the choice to opt-out to the Xmarks marketing schemes, you are instead automatically forced to participate, as the DEFAULT is "opt-in."

Further, the name change from FoxMarks to Xmarks has caused failure due to many firewalls, both of Internet Service Providers and businesses, blocking the Xmarks site (as the domain was a former porn domain).

The Mac version here is still the original "FoxMarks" branded version, but if you go to your account you will find that they are now using your bookmarks, Xmarks-style, unless you specifically opt-out. Again, the DEFAULT is "opt-in."

Had the developers ASKED for permission to data-mine our stored bookmarks and load our searches with "suggestions," this situation might not have come to the uproar that it has come to. Unfortunately, FoxMarks/Xmarks has make a colossal marketing blunder.

I no longer trust them, and neither do many others. Inform yourself before making the decision as to whether you trust them. Personally, I consider their business practices to be deceptive at best. They seem to be bringing the worst of the Windows world to the Mac.
