Sorry, but with the advent of amazing tools such as SCREEN FLOW for movie capture and even LAYERS or FREE tools such as JING for screen capture, I have no idea who could possibly still consider spending that kind of cash for THIS tool. It's comparatively SLOW and inflexible and doesn't use system level technology e.g. Core Video for amazing results like the first two aforementioned tools.
Snapz had it's days, but as far as I'm concerned, those days are LONG gone. At the very latest since Leopard.
If you need a truly great screen capture tools that are up to speed with TODAYS possibilities, then check out the tools above and spend a few bucks more and not regret it, unlike if you actually spent 79 bucks (ouch!!) on Snapz, which I in fact did a long long time ago, which I don't in fact regret, since like I said, it WAS a great tool in it's days.
The ONLY time I would say Snapz could be the way to go is if you actually STILL don't work with Leopard.

Jing?! I don't think so. - zunipus
Folks, go read the current review here at VT for Jing. It sums it all up.Jing is skirting the edge of being scamware. It has nothing remotely like the capabilities of Snapz Pro X and subjects you to marketing coercion in order to get you to pay up for their 'pro' version. I don't do marketing coercion. Get lost.

Snapz Pro with movies has served me well over many, many years. With the latest iteration, I was concerned because despite the installation of v2.1.4, I received a recurring message that an update, v2.1.4 was available. Thus, I suspected a bug and contacted Ambrosia. Within a very short time window I was contacted by the Sultan of Service, himself, expressing a number of suggestions. I applied these procedures, but to no avail, but Ambrosia was with me for the duration, eventually requesting a System Profile export. I resolved the issue by launching Snapz and unchecking the update option. Yes, this may only be a temporary fix, but it works. Most importantly, Ambrosia was with me all the way through numerous emails. So, you may complain about the product (I don't), but consider the quality of the service. From my experience, it is virtually impossible to match. These people care and that's critical in a fluctuating economy. So, cut them some slack!Friday, April 10 2009 @ 09:01 AM PDT

I had this issue and Ambrosia's suggestion fixed it. See the earlier thread immediately prior to this one entitled "Best tool for the job, but..."Tim.

No, not "79 bucks (ouch!!)" - zunipus
Too much emotional venting in this review resulting in minimal attention to facts. No digg.Sunday, April 26 2009 @ 01:37 AM PDT
No, not "79 bucks (ouch!!)" - Log2Lin
LOL... facts?? Like which?? Are you in some way actually suggesting that SNAPZ can keep up with the feature set of ScreenFlow??!OUCH... full fail, since you quite obviously haven't even seen the DEMO of SF let alone USED it... brainless blathering, nuthin' more.
And btw., Jing can be used for LOCAL saving of both videos and stills and the fact that it's FREE and can do anything SP can (plus more!) pretty much cancels out any bullsh** "marketing coercion" claims you might have. Get with the program and catch a clue!

So, you're saying that you actually USE Jing and ScreenFlow? Because when I try to use them they suck. For whatever reason you're spoutin' this crap... SnapzPro at least does what it says it will.Wednesday, April 29 2009 @ 12:39 PM PDT
Ahem... a bit too e-Vocal eh? - manicman
@zunipus: WELL SAID!@mixietop: counter-experience is always weakening to an argument.
Thanks you two, for balancing out this 'hate speech' (that's supposed to a humorous use of the phrase people).
