Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

I know there's a lot of complaints from people because Opera is not "pretty" enough for them, but this is a very fast browser with rich capabilities. I can surf, use bittorrent and blast out emails from this thing. With all that power I'm willing to forgive it for not looking like Safari even though I don't think Safari looks that spectacular to begin with. Nor do I feel that a programs value should be based solely on looks.

My major gripe is that as quick as this browser is, it does not play nice with youtube, hulu or most of the other video sites out there which is a shame. Playback is very choppy and I hope the makers of this browser correct the problem especially with hulu which was unwatchable in full screen mode. I'm running a2008 aluminum iMac with 4 gigs of ram. That shouldn't happen.

Some will also gripe about keychain support. It doesn't have it. this is a non issue for me.

If you just want to surf, check email and surf some more, this browser maybe worth a look. It's quick and lean on the memory and resources.

A solid browser with some drawbacks - rhpatrick22

You displayed some complaints about Opera; this is written in response to your complaints. First, it uses a Wand password manager; after filling out information in the prefeences it will remember passwords and your EMail address using it's own Wand Manager; before lodging a complaint, why not se how it works! I do not use Opera for Hulu or You Tube; I use it to protect myself from mailware, spyware, and deletion of history and cookies so you will not have ANY intrnet footprints. I also do not express opinions, I display facts;you have received the facts missing in your review.

was it a complaint? - Rufus J

rhpatrick, the poster did not complain about lack of keychain. (s)He said "some might". Indeed, as far as browsing goes, the Wand is an improvement over the keychain, but it does mean that Opera will not accept already stored (from other applications) passwords nor will it give its Wand passwords to other application, and this can be a source of frustration and therefore a legitimate complaint. There is probably no reason why Opera for Mac couldn't share it's Wand with the keychain and thus satisfy everyone... but they choose not to. I would like to add that expressing user opinion regarding software is one of the purposes of sites like Versiontracker. Your comment seems kinda funny (imo).
