my SSID isn't broadcast; when i choose "Join Other..." i'm given a field into which i can enter the name of my network, but the "encryption" popup and the password field and so forth remain grayed out and unusable, so i can't join my network to monitor it. clicking OK despite not having been allowed to specify my encryption type and password has only the ever-so-lovely effect of killing my network connection. and in the user-hostile tradition of so much open-source software, there is NO documentation that will explain the predicament. there are even icons missing from the title bar of the Preferences window.
my initial impression is that this software is useless. it's certainly useless for people who want to monitor closed networks. why offer a "Join Other..." option if it doesn't work?
i *may* un-close my network long enough to use this lame-ass piece of software to get some stats, but you can bet i'm not going to do that every time i want to know what's going on with my network.
