Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

This is the first version of Perian I have installed, when trying to open an mkv it does not recognise it as a video file.

the mkv trying to be played is as downloaded from Vuze/Azureus. The downloads included an .mkv and an mkv.asx file and .mkv.asx file has a quicktime icon but shows an error of Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -50.)

Can anyone help me with this?

does not recognise mkv as video file - hasmiza73

Few things you need to check here:
1. note that there are 2 files with the same name when you download a media from Vuze/Azureus - one with '.mkv' and the other one with '.mkv.asx'. Do not play the file that has the '.asx' extension. You should play the other file that has only '.mkv' extension.

2. Download the VLC for mac, the latest version.

Play the file from the VLC. It will work. Don't be deceived by the quicktime movie icon that was auto-created for the '.mkv.asx' file. This file should be left alone.
Good luck!
