OK, so I click "Download Now" and I get a file named "uYPLmP7t.zip.part" and I double-click it and I get an error message saying: "There is no default application specified to open the document." So, I go to the developer's website and there's NO help there, and no way to contact them, of course, so, WTF do I do now? Aside from tossing this P.O.S. in the Trash and moving on, that is. (FWIW, I'm on a Mac running OS 10.4.11)

OK, WTF??? - the_hype

Well the fact you have '.part' at the end means the file hasn't finished downloading. Check your download manager.

OK, WTF??? - a.smith2

Sounds very much like you got an interrupted download and should have tried again later--or tried iGetter, which works well for me, to manage the download.
