Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

what about iChat??? useful for mac friends i suppose... but what you really need to communicate flawlessly with the rest of the world is Skype, then once you have Skype and can talk/chat/exchange files fastest of all clients and great cam sessions with ALL your friends/contacts... who needs iChat!

what about, what about ichat? - Paradoxial

Nice observation, but this is about AIM clients. Mac already has a first-party AIM client, hence "what about iChat". Skype, while probably awesome, has nothing to do with this discussion.

i beg to differ that this has nothing to do with the topic..... I have d/l every version of the aim product.... it's the kind of sense of humor i have..... if any Corporation that so dominated peoples browsing experience on the internet for years wants to put forth such a weak and useless product, not to mention how ugly aim is on windows' platform so that you dare not ask friends who use windows to use it to communicate with you on iChat, i feel obligated to give a heads-up to people about a better way! p.s. i do use aim radio.... so I am not completely against AOL, just have to give the AIM network a ZERO....they deserve it, earned it!

What about Skype? - AJJX

The one thing you're forgetting is, Skype sucks.

if your experience is that skype sucks..... i'm sorry to hear of your difficulties... but here i sit on a 4 year old emac 1.42Ghz 1.5 meg of ram system running leopard and I have had no trouble with skype at any point...... it is besides the fact that for 2 plus years I have even paid the 3$/mnth to call anytime/anywhere in north america..... never have a problem updating betas or otherwise...... I have no cel phone, I have no landline at home, that is how reliable it has been for me and all my mac buddies that have now switched from iChat after decades of being "MAC ONLY GUYS".

What about Skype? - osos10

Have to agree with AJJX - skype sucks ! Heavy on the computer, consumes a lot of memory, but the worst part is the low voice quality and the never ending echos. Video chat frequently freezes. In fact - skype is the microsoft of the chatting world - a dinosaur that kills anything good. Luckily, Google came out with a chat/video chat of their own (through gmail). It takes a few minutes to install, it works google-flawlessly through your browser, nonetheless two Mac users can chat via iChat via this service - and oh - its free. I am happy to announce that I trashed my skype.app as many of my friends did and keep on doing.
